Supply Chain Engineer

Job Description: 

The Supply Chain Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise to our Suppliers in order to meet product specifications, quality expectations, productivity improvements, and resolve technical issues in a timely manner. He or she will work on both new product releases and sustaining product improvements, providing resolution to an assortment of complex issues. In addition, the Supply Chain Engineer will play a major role in the identification, analysis, and utilization of continuous improvement methods to design Supply Chain Solutions in support of current and future manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide technical expertise and project management to facilitate the identification and development of suppliers with respect to technology, performance, quality, cost, logistics, and delivery through the application of professionally accepted techniques, practices, and procedures.
• Early engagement with New Product Development and Project Engineering teams to ensure newly released projects and/or products are introduced successfully to the Supply Chain
• Collaborate with key suppliers regarding the technical aspects of new projects, products, and design changes.
• Be a key participant in Value Analysis/ Value Engineering (VAVE) projects and initiatives for the segment.
• Coordinate and execute design changes by phase-in/phase-out methods with engineering and suppliers.
• Assist with supplier development through site visits and participation in supplier audits when required.
• Participate in supplier risk mitigation analysis.
• Facilitate resolution of problems related to misinterpretations of specifications, tolerances, and/or critical dimensions.
• Execute lean manufacturing methods within the supply chain to remove waste and reduce costs.
• Analyze supplier process data to assist in solving complex quality problems.
• Participate in internal and external design review meetings to ensure our customer’s specifications and quality requirements are understood and executable within the Supply Chain
• Provide technical input for strategic sourcing projects including evaluation of suppliers’ capability, review of procurement specifications, and design review /product transition.
• Ensure procurement specifications are clear and accurate to customer requirements and understood by our suppliers.
• Follow-up with Non-Conformances requiring engineering and/or supplier change.
• Identify required drawing changes and ensure changes are made through the ECO/CR/CO process.
• Assist Supplier Quality with supplier Corrective Actions (CARs) and validate root cause analysis (if technical)
• Establish best practices with key suppliers and Business Units
• Liaison between key suppliers and the Procurement team
• Back-up for Supplier Quality Engineer as required.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Fiber Optic, and/or Mechanical), or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3 years of Engineering/Supply Chain experience
• Experience in technical sourcing, along with engineering, manufacturing, or product development experience preferred.

• Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization.
• Knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ERP Software
• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks.
• Necessary to be a team player with the ability to work effectively with other departments on special projects as assigned.
• Advanced understanding of lean manufacturing concepts
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Experience in conflict resolution
• Ability to effectively lead projects.
• Ability to travel (Domestic and International) as required.
