Sr. Legal Assistant

Job Summary:

• Help support the legal compliance of all advertising and promotional activities.
• Provide paralegal support for legal challenges related to advertising brought by or against the company, including litigation. 
• Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, other legal colleagues, and outside legal counsel related to marketing-related legal challenges.   
• Draft reports, memos, and other materials, with substance, for attorney review and help maintain an online tracking system. 
• Provide feedback and identify risks regarding proposed product claims and advertising copy, product labels, promotions, social, digital, influencer, and other marketing executions.   
• Collaborate with internal cross-functional team members and contribute legal comments regarding advertising claims and their support, as well as the review and clearance of advertising and promotional materials, including in digital and social media. 
• Review claims, packaging, and marketing materials in online systems. 
• Liaise with Contracts legal counsel, the company’s Trademarks department, and marketing teams to support the drafting and negotiation of marketing-related NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, Amendments, permission letters, and consent and releases, as well as other Agreements.   
• Interface with internal business partners regarding contract issues, as needed.   
• Provide legal research and prepare summaries and memoranda 
• Draft Google Slides/PowerPoint presentations related to marketing-legal issues, including preparing and providing legal training to the business under the attorney’s direction and supervision.

Required Qualifications:

• Paralegal studies or Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Legal, Marketing, or related fields. 
• At least 5 years of work experience is required; in a corporate legal environment with a focus on marketing or advertising preferred, but other experience in a corporate legal environment or a law firm could be sufficient for the right candidate. 
• Experience using MS Word,DocuSign/AdobeSign, Google tools (Docs/Sheets/Slides), Gmail.  Familiarity working with online databases or tools preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, ability to work independently and collaborate with all levels of the business and legal organization. 
• Strong leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. 
• Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.     
• Good analytical/quantitative skills and excellent collaboration skills. 
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment in order to resolve issues. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 10 years of experience in a corporate legal environment
• Contract/Agreement Drafting and Negotiation Experience
• Understands the product category and competitive landscape such that the knowledge informs analysis and decisions being made
