Product Manager

Role Overview:

This experienced Product Manager will own and drive the strategy, execution, and lifecycle management of the company products, with a primary focus on Spine and other surgical disciplines. This role combines deep clinical exposure, cross-functional leadership, and hands-on product execution across hardware, software, and user experience.

The Product Manager will work closely with surgeons, clinical teams, engineering, regulatory, quality, marketing, and sales to understand evolving clinical needs and translate them into scalable product solutions across multiple specialties.

This role requires regular field engagement, including observing live surgical cases across various disciplines, supporting clinical coverage when needed, and representing the product portfolio at conferences and key customer events.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Strategy & Roadmap:

• Own the product roadmap for assigned products and clinical applications, with an emphasis on Spine and expansion into additional surgical disciplines.
• Ensure product strategy aligns with company objectives, clinical needs, customer feedback, and market opportunities.
• Define product requirements, prioritize features, and manage trade-offs across clinical, technical, regulatory, and business constraints.
• Conduct ongoing competitive analysis, market research, and voice-of-customer activities to identify opportunities across surgical specialties.

Agile Execution & Program Management:

• Serve as Spine Manager for assigned projects, partnering closely with engineering, quality, clinical, and design teams.
• Manage backlogs, user stories, bugs, and sprint planning using Jira and related task management tools.
• Ensure development activities align with design controls and quality system requirements, including the use of Ketryx and other regulated software tools.
• Participate in testing processes to validate engineering outputs and ensure conformance to user and product requirements.

Regulatory & Quality Collaboration:

• Collaborate closely with Regulatory Affairs to support FDA clearance activities, including the generation and management of Software Requirements Specifications (SRS), user manual updates, and other required documentation.
• Contribute to regulatory strategy by providing product intent, clinical use cases, risk considerations, and competitive context across applicable surgical disciplines.
• Support the preparation and review of regulatory submissions, labeling, and responses to FDA questions.
• Ensure product requirements and changes are documented in compliance with applicable regulatory and quality standards.

Clinical & Field Engagement:

• Travel into the field at least once per month to observe surgical cases, with a primary focus on Spine as well as other applicable surgical disciplines.
• Gather direct feedback from surgeons and clinical teams to identify unmet needs and opportunities for product improvement.
• Support the clinical team with case coverage as needed to help ensure successful product use and customer satisfaction.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), surgeons, and clinical stakeholders across multiple specialties.
• Attend and represent the company at industry conferences, workshops, and customer events.

UX/UI & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Partner closely with UX/UI designers to create intuitive, surgeon-centered product experiences.
• Translate surgical workflows and clinical insights across multiple specialties into actionable design and usability requirements.
• Identify common workflow needs as well as specialty-specific requirements to support scalable product development.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, regulatory, clinical, operations, marketing, and sales teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Marketing & Commercial Support:

• Collaborate with Marketing to refine product positioning, messaging, and value propositions across applicable surgical specialties.
• Assist in the creation of product assets, including presentations, training materials, demonstrations, and launch content.
• Support Sales by educating teams on product features, clinical value propositions, use cases, and competitive differentiation.
• Support new product and market expansion initiatives as the company technology is introduced into additional surgical disciplines.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, life sciences, business, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
• 2+ years of clinical support experience.
• Experience and/or interest working with agile development processes and serving as a sprint or backlog owner.
• Familiarity with regulated software and quality systems, including Jira, Ketryx, or similar tools.
• Experience collaborating with Regulatory Affairs on FDA submissions and clearance activities.
• Comfort working in the operating room environment and engaging directly with surgeons and clinical staff across different specialties.
• Ability to understand and adapt to different surgical workflows and clinical applications.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 35%, including early mornings and extended OR days.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting spine, surgical navigation, surgical imaging, or other technology-enabled surgical workflows.
• Experience working across multiple surgical specialties or clinical applications.
• Exposure to UX/UI collaboration for complex medical or clinical software products.
• Prior experience working with KOLs and supporting conference activities or product launches.
• Background in spine, surgical navigation, imaging technologies, or other surgical specialties is preferred.
