Principal Engineer, Software

The fundamental function of this role will be the software design and implementation architect, integration lead, mentoring others, making enhancements, and fixing bugs in both the front-end and back-end.  The successful candidate will bring strong C++, Image Analysis, and object-oriented programming experience to work in a variety of areas within application software.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and implement features and strategies.  The position will include architectural design, code development, and fixing bugs using highly efficient and well-organized code in either of the following languages: C++, C#, Image Analysis, and SQL code
• Work to integrate AI imaging algorithms and maintain architecture
• Design and refactor code
• Provide documentation, test plans, and unit tests for all software changes.
• Work in a highly collaborative agile team environment using SAFe
• Have, and further develop, an understanding of customer usage of imaging technologies to help our team design and build the best products possible.
• Present and demonstrate new features to customers around the world.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree (± 12 years) in a technical field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) Or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 8+ years of experience in software development (a combination of programming-heavy coursework, school projects, freelance work, and professional experience).
• Strong C++ and Object-Oriented design skills.
• Demonstrated experience in software architecture, preferably within a medical device development environment.
• Experience creating thorough testing methodologies.
• Experience with source control and bug-tracking tools.
• Excellent English communication skills, oral, reading, and writing (should be comfortable reading scientific publications).
• Experience developing on the Microsoft Windows platform.
• Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.

Preferred:

• 10 years of commercial software development experience or a graduate degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.

• A Master’s degree is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with 2D image processing and medical image analysis
• Experience with C#/WPF/MVVM/UWP and principles of UI development
• Experience developing medical device software.
• Hardware interface programming is a strong plus.

• Experience working with client/server architectures (REST, NET)
• 3D Graphics Programming experience is a strong plus.
• Algorithm development experience for biomedical imaging applications.
• Experience with SIMD CPU and/or GPU programming.
• Experience with Machine Learning, AI, or Deep Learning is a plus.
• Knowledge/experience with web-based architectures and application development.
• Experience with WPF/MVVM/UWP a plus
