Principal Data Scientist

Job Summary:

In this role, you will help leverage data to improve patient outcomes and clinician experience with our products. This position will work with product design, manufacturing, sales, training, and field support to define the requirements for an infrastructure and data sources to enable the development of applications and machine learning algorithms. The Principal Data Scientist will be a key member of a cross-functional team that will architect and build a secure data lake and analytic environment that will allow the correlation and analysis of multiple data sources including imaging, case data, and device telemetry.

Responsibilities:

Will work with a cross-functional team of researchers, developers, systems engineers, marketing, and product support to build and populate a secure data lake to enable the development of advanced applications and algorithms.

• Work with research scientists, operations, and commercial teams to identify data-driven applications.
• Capture requirements for desired outcomes to support both internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify required data sources and assess quality.
• Work with the development team to define the cloud-based architecture, data feeds, storage and processing requirements, analytic tools, and presentation layer.
• Develop algorithms to process the data using techniques such as machine learning and statistical modeling.
• Identify and evaluate the security and privacy requirements.
• Determine data governance processes such as data tagging and access requirements.
• Develop data cataloging capabilities to facilitate application and algorithm design.
• Assess the applicability of health data frameworks such as FHIR.
• Work with a cross-functional team to implement and assess the solution in a cloud environment.
• Assess commercially available solutions and cost-benefit tradeoffs.
• Document and present results in requirements, papers, presentations, etc.
• Support all Company initiatives in support of Quality Management Systems and other regulatory requirements.
• Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Education and Experience:

Required

• Minimum 10 years in a high-tech engineering role.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
• Data science expertise and experience.
• Experience with product development.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy in connected environments.
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and capture requirements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred

• Master’s or Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related engineering field
• Experience in working with healthcare products
