Materials Management Supervisor

Job Description:

The Materials Supervisor is responsible for providing materials, equipment, and supplies by directing receiving, warehousing, and material movement, and supervising staff.

Position Responsibilities:

• Achieve warehouse operational objectives through the contribution of warehouse operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews.
• Meet warehouse operation’s financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
• Develop warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, and creating processes for receiving products, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping.
• Continuous development, implementation, enforcement, and evaluation of policies and procedures.
• Create warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems, evaluating and recommending new equipment.
• Establish warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process work flow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout, and implementing changes.
• Maintain the physical condition of the warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; 5+ years of related experience required in lieu of degree.
  • Must have experience in the integrated functions of manufacturing.
  • Experience with rate-based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, visual management systems, Microsoft Office products, inventory control/shipping software, MRP, and lean manufacturing processes.
