Engineering Manager

SUMMARY:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes, plants, and/or equipment within operations, and ensuring continual improvement related to process, cost, production, and overall quality of the products through the direct management and leadership of the engineering department while supporting operations in other areas of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensure overall department goals and objectives are met.
• Directly manage and lead employees of the engineering department, including maintenance and CNC programmers. Supervisory oversight will include safety, compliance, and efficiency.
• Oversee the planning and designing of products, tools, programs, machines, and other functioning equipment and industrial processes.
• Oversees installation, operation, production, and maintenance of the same equipment. 
• Designs, develops, and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, fixtures, functional gauges, machinery, and other equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
• Ensures manufacturing and assembly processes are documented (i.e., work instructions)
• Manage fiscal responsibility for the entire department.
• Reviews and makes recommendations on policies and procedures to maximize departmental operating performance.
• Develops and justifies evaluation, quality, and process criteria.
• Develop and maintain a continuous improvement system and culture.
• Identifies technical issues of future importance.
• Responsible for an in-depth understanding of the overall organization
• Work closely with other disciplines and all levels of management to complete tasks and optimize overall operations.
• Estimates resource requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions make or buy calculations.
• Proactively identify and escalate risk-related issues.
• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of weekly reporting metrics.
• Comply with state and federal law safety regulations.
• Adhere to company policies and state and federal laws and regulations relating to employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent
  Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing disciplines preferred
• Six Sigma certified, Greenbelt or above, preferred.
• 3+ years of leadership/management experience
• 5+ years of process/industrial engineering experience, machining, and assembly preferred.
• Technical skills include:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Understanding of ERP systems, D365 FO preferred
• Understanding and application of work-related documents (operating manuals, maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.)
• Strong leadership and employee development skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Self-starting and self-motivated
• Minimal travel requirements
