Electrical Compliance Engineer

Job Description:

The ability to research, understand, interpret, and create necessary strategies to meet applicable regulations is essential. This person must be able to work cross-functionally throughout the company to ensure we successfully meet the relative regulations in the requested sales markets.

Position Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the engineering teams to identify and fix test-failure points
• Working with subsidiaries for international market certification
• Coordinate third-party testing at labs in the US, Europe, and Asia (UL, ACT Labs, SGS)
• Organize and maintain documentation for compliance, including certifications, test reports, RoHS information
• Development of component-level technical files and other documentation
• Development of compliance strategies to reduce costs and time to market

Position Requirements:

• Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree preferred, however a candidate with extensive applicable experience will also be considered
• The ability to identify, communicate and solve complex problems
• Experience with wireless and EMC certification schemes (FCC, ISED, KC, SRRC, etc.) preferred
• Understanding of electrical safety topics, specifically luminaires, ITE, secondary battery, and battery charging technologies
• Understanding of electrical product regulations and standards, both domestic and international, including LVD, RED, EMCD, IEC, UL, EN, etc.
• Must possess strong investigative research skills and high attention to detail.
• Ability to draft procedural documents
• Ability to assess, quantify, and manage risk
• Ability to assist product development teams with compliance budgets and schedules
• Manage multiple projects at the same time; prioritize and possess a sense of urgency
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint)
• Possible international travel
