Job Summary:

The Public Relations Account Supervisor will manage their designated public relations account executive(s) in the performance of their job duties as well as secure media hits and develop client strategy.

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Regularly secure media hits regionally and locally and are able to demonstrate and communicate ROI
• Regularly travel alone for client meetings and events
• Lead client meetings with autonomy
• Continuously build and maintain an extensive network of industry, editorial, and promotional contacts
• Maintain regular contact with members of the media via phone, e-mail, mailings, and face-to-face encounters and visits
• Create, follow, and maintain forecasts, budgets, and successful media relations campaigns
• Keep abreast of key developments in print, broadcast, and electronic media – share useful articles and trends with the team and agency
• Effectively delegate tasks and assignments to team members
• Lead creative brainstorming sessions and offer original ideas
• Identify opportunities to motivate, train, and lead staff and put the process into action
• Strive to set and achieve personal media placement goals
• Plan and implement successful media or special events with autonomy
• Takes ownership over multiple clients and leads day-to-day management and execution
• Write, proof, and edit a variety of PR materials
• Accurately track time on a daily basis and flag overages before they happen
• Analyze time-keeping data and work with Account Directors and VPs to ensure profitability

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Manage workflow of account executives and coordinators and act as a mentor

• Ability to act as a supervisor and manage day-to-day processes on accounts
• Proven ability to successfully motivate and grow a team
• Demonstrate excellent writing, editing, organization, and proofreading skills
• Demonstrate excellent client and media relations skills
• Demonstrate excellent organizational skills: juggle multiple tasks at one time, are able to prioritize and meet deadlines, and keep managers aware of project status
• Proficient using appropriate software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Muckrack, Google Suite, etc.)
• Work well independently and collaboratively with team members
• Understand and utilizes research techniques
• Present and interact professionally and strategically with clients and within the agency
• Proactively seek out innovative growth opportunities and new projects
• Solve problems effectively, efficiently, and creatively

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or related field
• Five to six (5-6) years of agency experience managing multiple accounts simultaneously
